CALL FOR Papers
Please note: the call for papers has now closed
We warmly welcome researchers, research students, practitioners and teachers to submit proposals on topics including but not limited to:
Proposals can be for any of the following 3 formats: papers, work in progress or teacher sharing sessions.
1. Papers
This format is best suited to theoretically oriented work, or the presentation of completed research studies and assessment development projects. Paper presentations are 20 minutes and are followed by 10 minutes for questions and comments from the audience. The proposal should clearly indicate what the presentation will focus on, as well as give details of the whole project. In the case of empirical studies, the proposal should in general include objectives of the study, study design and methods, results, conclusions, and implications. In the case of conceptual research, the proposal should discuss an approach or a critical issue, or compare and contrast alternative approaches or issues, and provide significant new insights. The proposal must not exceed 500 words.
2. Work in Progress Presentations
The event gives the opportunity for presenters to discuss work in progress, in the form of either a research study or a project to develop a particular type of assessment for practical use. Presenters give a brief overview of what they have done, any issues they are dealing with and what their future plans are, as the basis for generating useful feedback from a small group of other participants. The session will be 15 minutes long, but the structure is up to the presenter (5-10 minute presentation, the rest for feedback). The proposal must not exceed 500 words.
3. Teacher Sharing Sessions
Presentations can take a variety of forms, depending on the material and ideas you would like to share. Each sharing session will be 15 minutes. This could be a standard presentation (e.g., work in progress, demonstrations, or a mini-workshop on an assessment-related issue) or a discussion on a topic of interest to the presenter. The timing should be no more than 15 minutes but the structure is up to the presenter (e.g., 10 minutes presentation, 5 minutes for questions). In approximately 200 words, the proposal should include the focus (the topic/idea/issue to be shared), why the focus is relevant to the teaching and assessment community, what might be gained from sharing the focus with other teachers, and the format of the presentation (e.g. ppt slides, videoclip, sample assessment materials).
