PurposE

The purpose of the Association for Language Testing and Assessment of Australia
and New Zealand (ALTAANZ) shall be to promote best practice in language
assessment in educational and professional settings in these two countries and
to foster collaboration between academia, schools and other agencies responsible
for language testing or assessment.  Its goals are listed under three broad
headings below:


Training:

Stimulate professional growth and best practice in
language testing and assessment through workshops and
conferences

Research:

Promote research in language testing and assessment through
seminars, conferences and/or publications (ALTAANZ publishes a web-based journal
and a newsletter).

Policy formation/advice:

Provide advice on assessment to public and other relevant
agencies on assessment-related issues, and advocate on behalf of test-takers,
students and other stakeholders whose life chances may be affected by
assessment-related decisions.
