Test analysis for teachers
The workshop aims to provide language teachers with the
knowledge and experience to conduct basic analyses of their test data. The
workshop will focus on techniques from classical test analysis, including
descriptive statistics, reliability indices and item analysis (including
facility values and discrimination indices). The session will be conducted in a
hands-on workshop format using Excel (and SPSS) so that teachers will be able
to conduct the analyses on their own computers. Example data sets will be provided
in the session, but teachers are also welcome to bring their own data. The
workshop handout will provide instructions for use of both Excel and SPSS (if
available). The session will also include theoretical information on scoring
methods, improving the reliability of a test and distractor analysis.
No prior knowledge is required.
