STUDIES IN LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT

** SiLA is now indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) **

Studies in Language Assessment (SiLA) is the peer-reviewed research journal of ALTAANZ. Its primary aim is to disseminate high-quality research and commentary on any topic within the field of language testing and assessment. Contributions are particularly encouraged from authors in Australia and New Zealand, but the scope of the journal is international and submissions are welcome from anywhere in the world.

The journal is an online, open-access publication that accepts contributions from both new and experienced researchers in the form of full research articles, research reports and discussion papers. It also publishes commissioned book and test reviews. Currently, there are at least one regular issue and one theme-based special issue each year. SiLA is included in the Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).

Since it is an open access journal, all content published in SiLA is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access. SiLA content is distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/. SiLA does not accept commercial advertising and does not use direct marketing strategies..

SiLA is available online here on the ALTAANZ website and also at the Language Testing Research Centre at the University of Melbourne.

Enquiries can be directed to the Editorial Assistant, [email protected]. Correspondence on editorial matters should be addressed to the Editors, John Read and Jason Fan via email to [email protected]. The Reviews Editor is Ivy Chen, The University of Melbourne.

From 2012 to 2022, the title of the journal was Papers in Language Testing and Assessment (PLTA). Prior to 2012, the Language Testing Research Centre at the University of Melbourne produced an earlier publication, Melbourne Papers in Language Testing (MPLT). The full catalogue of back issues of MPLT is available here: MPLT Back Issues (1992-2010).
