Making room for learning and assessing together in bilingual, bicultural teaching teams at a remote Warlpiri school in Central Australia

Abstract: This report describes two assessment-related activities conducted in a remote bilingual school in Central Australia as part of a PhD research project in 2018-2019. The examples presented highlight the challenges of conducting assessment in the context of small-scale indigenous languages and the value of collaboration among bilingual, bicultural teaching teams in developing effective assessment strategies that value and harness students’ multilingual capabilities.
